Join us for Art on the Town- Hidden Textures
Artist Michael J. Zwicky is a Wisconsin native, who received his degree in painting and sculpture from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1983. He then moved to New York City where he was a part of the Rivington School and Immersionism movement art scene. After leaving New York he returned to Wisconsin and was featured at exhibitions at the Harmony Cafe and Appleton Public library. He currently maintains a studio outside of Hortonville.
In Michael's words; "My Art is influenced by the Abstract Expressionists, Graffiti, and Jungian archetypal mythology. I like to create abstract works because I believe each person brings their own individual personality to the viewing experience. In the book "Man and His Symbols", Jung quotes from one of Leonardo Da Vinci's notebooks: 'It should not be hard for you to stop sometimes and look into the stains on walls, or ashes of a fire, or clouds, or mud or like places, in which.... you may find really marvelous ideas'. I use spray paint, house paint and various mixed media on found panels and canvases to create my art."
Enjoy complimentary Vande Walle’s chocolates while you view and hopefully purchase some of his work!
